Bay Lake Public Access Inspection Program

Each fiscal year, many Minnesota counties receive state funds to prevent the spread of aquatic invasives, including Crow Wing County (CWC). The county uses these funds to pay for an extensive public access boat inspection and education program. County paid inspectors are assigned to about 50 county lakes, mostly from 9am-5pm, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, from mid-May through Labor Day. Bay Lake infestations of Eurasian Water Milfoil and Zebra Mussels qualify Bay Lake for this inspection program. In order to further protect from the invasion of new invasives and the “sharing” with other lakes of our invasives on outgoing boats, BLIA pays for additional county inspectors from Monday-Thursday.
